How To Eat In A Planet-Friendly Way 

1. Cook Once, Eat Twice – Or Thrice!

Decrease your carbon footprint by powering your appliances just once through the day. Prepare your food in batches big  enough for each of your meals (or make sufficient so you can freeze portions). In this way, you’re not toiling away in your kitchen all the time, and saving a fuel. 

2. Do Away With a Wastage!

When you dispose of your leftovers, they’re dumped into a landfills. Soon, they start emitting methane – a potent greenhouse gas that’s even more harmful than a carbon dioxide. Instead, devise ways to cut down on a food waste. 4. Select Plants

Adopt a plant-based a diet, and phase out the meat. Animal agriculture is one of the directing  contributors to the emission of greenhouse gases. By eschewing meats for a variety of plant-based meals, you’re not just changing your ways for the environment, but even discouraging slaughter. If you discover the transition challenging, try buying mock-meat brands to curb your cravings.

5. Grow Your Own Produce 

Do you know where your supermarket’s vegetables and fruits are sourced from – or the amount of time and carbon miles needed to truck them to your locality? It takes days – also weeks – for produce to be transported to stores. Just imagine the levels of energy needed to fulfil this carbon-intensive part of the chain? It’s tremendous. Instead, try growing at least few of your own produce in your backyard. In that way, you know exactly what you’re consuming, and you’re not needed to trudge to the market as often.

6. Or Source Produce Locally

If you cannot develop your fruits or vegetables, source them locally. Apart from helping your local economy, you’re not perpetuating the carbon-intensive supply chain if the produce is grown in a your locality.
